Anchorpoint and Solana Foundation Establish Strategic Partnership
Hong Kong's regulated stablecoin ecosystem is preparing for another blockchain expansion. Anchorpoint Financial Limited, the issuer of the Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin HKDAP, has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Solana Foundation to explore bringing the token to Solana.
Announced on October 30, 2026, the partnership is Anchorpoint's first collaboration with a public blockchain foundation. The proposed integration would support native minting and redemption of HKDAP on Solana, with near-instant settlement intended to accommodate retail payments, tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) and other high-volume financial applications.
Anchorpoint also aims to extend access to Hong Kong dollar-denominated payments and financial products through Solana's network of wallets, applications, developers and corporate partners. However, the announcement describes a planned expansion rather than a completed deployment. No Solana launch date or official token contract address has been announced.
Dominic Maffei, CEO and Co-Founder of Anchorpoint, said the collaboration reflects the company's goal of connecting different financial ecosystems through open infrastructure. He added that the partnership combines regulated tokenized money infrastructure with a public blockchain ecosystem to broaden access to digital Hong Kong dollar services.
What HKDAP's Expansion Could Mean for Payments and Tokenized Assets
HKDAP, short for HKD At Par, is a Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin designed to support digital payments, settlement and programmable financial services. Its planned Solana integration could make the token available to a wider range of applications and participants beyond its existing blockchain environment.
Native minting and redemption would allow eligible participants to issue and redeem HKDAP directly through the supported Solana infrastructure. The proposed arrangement is intended to provide faster settlement for transactions involving Hong Kong dollar-denominated digital value.
Potential applications include retail payments, cross-border capital flows and trading in tokenized real-world assets. These use cases could connect traditional financial products with blockchain-based settlement systems, although their availability will depend on the development of supporting services and infrastructure.
Anchorpoint and the Solana Foundation plan to work with corporate partners, wallet providers, applications and developers to expand access to HKDAP and related tokenized products.
HKDAP Currently Operates Through an Institutional Beta Programme
Anchorpoint received its Hong Kong stablecoin issuer licence on April 10, 2026, alongside HSBC. The licence was granted by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) under the city's Stablecoins Ordinance.
Anchorpoint began its institutional Beta Access rollout on August 12, initially targeting institutional distributors and professional investors. The programme uses a business-to-business-to-consumer distribution model, allowing authorized partners to provide access to eligible customers.
During this phase, HKDAP is available on Ethereum mainnet. HashKey and OSL are among the authorized distribution partners involved in the rollout. The proposed Solana expansion would add another public blockchain to the stablecoin's supported infrastructure, subject to implementation and operational readiness.
Anchorpoint has targeted a broader Full Launch as early as the end of 2026. The timing depends on the readiness of issuance, distribution, custody and other infrastructure. After the broader launch, retail users and other participants are expected to access and use HKDAP through authorized distributors and ecosystem partners.
The HKMA's official register of licensed stablecoin issuers lists Anchorpoint Financial Limited under licence number FRS01, effective April 10, 2026. Anchorpoint also provides details about availability and supported networks in its official HKDAP FAQs.
Solana Joins Anchorpoint's Tokenised Money Adoption Programme
The partnership extends beyond blockchain integration. The Solana Foundation will also join Anchorpoint's Tokenised Money Adoption Programme (TAP) as a strategic partner, alongside PwC Hong Kong.
Anchorpoint established TAP in September 2026 to encourage education, research and industry discussion around tokenized money. Its activities include workshops, knowledge-sharing initiatives and discussions involving participants from financial services, payments, technology and digital assets.
Solana's participation is expected to support collaboration and knowledge sharing as Hong Kong develops its regulated stablecoin and tokenization ecosystem. The initiative also gives the Solana Foundation a role in discussions around the practical use of regulated digital money.
The programme builds on Anchorpoint's earlier partnership with PwC Hong Kong, which joined as its inaugural strategic partner. Details of the initiative are available in Anchorpoint's TAP announcement.
Solana's Existing RWA Ecosystem Provides a Foundation
The proposed HKDAP integration comes as Solana continues developing its tokenized asset ecosystem. Anchorpoint's October 30 announcement cited approximately $4.9 billion in tokenized real-world assets on Solana and more than 835,000 RWA holders.
These figures provide context for the planned stablecoin expansion. A network supporting tokenized financial assets can also provide infrastructure for settlement and payments involving those assets. A Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin could therefore serve as another currency option for applications operating within that ecosystem.
The Solana Foundation has also been increasing its engagement with Hong Kong. Its participation in the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES) programme and plans to establish a local presence form part of that broader engagement.
What Happens Before HKDAP Reaches Solana?
The announcement establishes the direction of the partnership, but several implementation details remain outstanding. Anchorpoint has not yet published a Solana deployment date or an official contract address for HKDAP on the network.
The companies will need to progress the technical and operational work required for issuance, redemption, distribution and custody. Access arrangements will also matter, particularly because the current Beta Access programme is limited to selected authorized distributors and eligible institutional users.
Users should be cautious of unofficial tokens using the HKDAP name or ticker. Anchorpoint has warned that imitation tokens may appear on public blockchains and advises users to verify contract addresses and authorized distributors through its official channels.
The proposed Solana expansion represents another step in connecting Hong Kong's regulated stablecoin market with public blockchain infrastructure. Whether it develops into a widely used payment and settlement option will depend on the eventual launch, partner participation and availability of supporting services.
