World Expands Prediction Markets Across Solana
World has launched its standalone prediction market platform at world.xyz, opening access to more than 1 million waitlisted users.
The rollout expands the service beyond its previous Phantom wallet integration and brings markets covering sports, crypto, politics, finance, economics and culture directly to users. World says more than 150,000 markets have already been created through the platform.
The initial lineup includes NFL regular-season games, seven soccer leagues, Formula 1, the 2026 U.S. midterm elections and Federal Reserve-related markets.
The launch gives Solana another major use case for onchain trading, with prediction contracts operating through the network's infrastructure.
How World's Prediction Markets Work
World uses binary Yes/No contracts, with prices ranging between $0 and $1.
A contract's price reflects the market's implied probability of an outcome. Once an event is resolved, the winning side receives $1 while the losing side receives $0.
Trading is settled using CASH, a dollar-backed stablecoin associated with Phantom. Orders are routed to liquidity providers on Solana, while World operates as a non-custodial protocol.
This structure allows users to participate without opening a traditional brokerage account or relying on a centralized exchange.
However, the platform's availability depends on jurisdiction. World has not provided a complete country-by-country list of markets accessible to U.S. users, making local regulatory rules particularly important for sports and election contracts.
Chainlink Handles Market Data and Resolution
A major component of the launch is World's integration with Chainlink Data Streams and the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE).
The infrastructure is designed to provide external data and automate market resolution once predetermined conditions are met. That can reduce the need for manual resolution panels or token-holder votes.
For example, sports markets require reliable final scores, while Federal Reserve contracts depend on official policy decisions. Election markets similarly require clearly defined settlement sources.
Automated resolution is particularly important as prediction markets expand because incorrect or delayed settlement can undermine user confidence and liquidity.
Solana Gains Another Onchain Trading Use Case
World's launch adds prediction markets to the growing range of financial applications being built on Solana.
The platform keeps its trading infrastructure and liquidity connected to Solana rather than moving settlement to an offchain environment. This gives the network another category of activity alongside decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, stablecoins and tokenized assets.
The more important metric now, however, will be actual trading activity.
World has disclosed its waitlist size and number of markets, but comparable first-day figures for trading volume and open interest were not disclosed in the launch coverage. The number of markets therefore should not be treated as evidence of product-market fit by itself.
Liquidity depth, active traders and sustained volume will determine whether the platform can compete with established prediction-market venues.
World Plans to Expand Beyond Sports and Politics
World's roadmap extends beyond its initial markets.
The platform plans to add equity up-and-down contracts, followed by markets tied to commodities such as gold, silver, oil and natural gas. Weather markets for major cities are also planned.
If those markets gain meaningful liquidity, World could evolve from a sports-focused prediction platform into a broader onchain venue for trading views on real-world events and financial outcomes.
That would also increase the importance of reliable oracle infrastructure, making Chainlink's role in data delivery and automated settlement increasingly significant.
The Bottom Line
World's standalone launch gives more than 1 million waitlisted users access to a Solana-based prediction market, with more than 150,000 markets already created.
The combination of Solana's onchain liquidity, Phantom's user base and Chainlink's automated resolution infrastructure gives World a strong foundation as it expands into prediction markets.
The next test is adoption. If World can convert its large waitlist into sustained trading volume and deep liquidity, prediction markets could become another important growth category for Solana's onchain economy.
