Mirae Asset Brings Structured Notes to Solana

Mirae Asset Securities (HK) Limited, the Hong Kong arm of South Korea’s Mirae Asset Securities, has completed an issuance of tokenized funding notes on the Solana blockchain. The October 28, 2026, announcement marks an expansion of the company’s structured financial products into blockchain-based distribution for eligible institutional investors.

The securities are U.S. dollar-denominated, six-month floating-rate notes issued in Hong Kong under a US$3 billion Guaranteed Structured Note Programme. The US$3 billion figure represents the overall program size, not the amount raised in this particular transaction. The issuance amount and the notes’ specific interest-rate terms were not disclosed in the announcement.

Singapore-regulated digital market infrastructure operator Marketnode acted as the authorized distributor, while the Solana Foundation supported the transaction. The notes were issued in tokenized form on Solana, a public blockchain network, allowing eligible investors to hold the securities through a blockchain-based structure.

How the Tokenized Notes Work

A funding note is a debt security through which an issuer raises money from investors and agrees to repay the amount under specified terms. A floating-rate note pays interest that can change over time based on a reference rate or other contractual mechanism. The announcement did not identify the benchmark used for these notes or disclose the coupon rate.

Tokenization represents a financial instrument digitally on a blockchain. Rather than changing the underlying economic nature of the security, it provides a blockchain-based format for recording and handling the instrument. In this case, the product remains a structured note issued under Mirae Asset’s existing program, with Solana serving as the public blockchain infrastructure for its tokenized form.

Mirae Asset Securities managed token issuance, payments and lifecycle management through its own digital infrastructure. Lifecycle management can include operational processes associated with a security over its term. The company described the transaction as a potential model for extending its structured-note capabilities to additional products and digital distribution channels.

Marketnode Handles Distribution to Institutional Investors

Marketnode’s role was to distribute the tokenized notes to eligible investors. The company operates digital market infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region, connecting financial institutions with services for issuing and managing financial products in digital formats. Its involvement brings a distribution provider into the transaction alongside the issuer and the blockchain ecosystem.

Marketnode is backed by Euroclear, HSBC, SGX Group and Temasek. Its business focuses on infrastructure for digital financial markets, including the distribution and servicing of products such as funds, structured products and credit. More information about its services is available on the Marketnode official website.

The Solana Foundation also supported the issuance. The Foundation’s role connects the transaction to Solana’s wider effort to support financial applications on public blockchain infrastructure. Solana’s official website provides an overview of the network, while its developer documentation explains the underlying technology used to build and operate applications on the blockchain.

Private Placement Limits Access to Eligible Investors

The notes were offered through a private placement to eligible professional investors as defined under Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Ordinance. They have not been authorized or registered by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission, and the announcement stated that it does not constitute an offer or solicitation to buy or sell securities.

That distinction is important because tokenization does not remove the legal and regulatory conditions attached to a financial product. The transaction is not described as a public retail offering, and the announcement does not establish that individual investors can buy the notes through a cryptocurrency exchange or a general-purpose Solana wallet.

The public blockchain format should also not be confused with unrestricted access to the underlying security. Eligibility, distribution arrangements and the legal terms of the notes continue to govern who may participate and what rights investors receive. The announcement did not provide details about the token standard, custody arrangements, the number of investors or a public token address.

Mirae Asset Continues Its Digital-Asset Expansion

Mirae Asset Securities is part of Mirae Asset Financial Group, whose businesses include brokerage, investment banking, asset management and insurance. The group has been expanding its involvement in digital assets as traditional financial institutions explore blockchain-based products and distribution.

An affiliate, Mirae Asset Consulting, acquired a controlling stake in cryptocurrency exchange Korbit in July 2026. The exchange has since rebranded as Digital X. The transaction is part of the group’s broader digital-asset activity, although the tokenized-note issuance is a separate initiative involving Mirae Asset Securities’ structured products.

The group’s asset management business, Mirae Asset Global Investments, operates the Global X and TIGER exchange-traded fund brands. Its U.S. website lists information about its ETF products. The supplied figures put its ETF assets under management at $275 billion as of June 2026 and describe its ETF business as the world’s 12th-largest.

What the Solana Issuance Could Mean for Tokenized Finance

The transaction demonstrates one way a traditional financial institution can use public blockchain infrastructure to distribute an existing type of financial product in tokenized form. Rather than issuing a cryptocurrency for general trading, Mirae Asset used Solana to support the distribution of debt securities to a restricted institutional audience.

Mirae Asset said the transaction provides a model that could be extended to a broader range of structured products over time. That is a potential direction rather than a confirmed schedule for additional issuances; the announcement did not name specific future products or set a launch timetable.

The issuance’s value as a precedent will depend on how the firm develops the model and whether further products are introduced under the relevant legal and regulatory requirements. For now, the confirmed development is a six-month, U.S. dollar-denominated tokenized note issuance on Solana, distributed by Marketnode to eligible institutional investors.
