Solana Sets New Quarterly Transaction Record

Solana recorded a new quarterly milestone in the third quarter of 2026, processing approximately 14.2 billion non-vote transactions, according to data reported from Blockworks. The figure represents a 45% increase from Q2, making Q3 the busiest quarter for this type of activity on the network.

The metric is important because Solana separates transactions into vote and non-vote activity. Vote transactions are generated by validators as part of the network's consensus process, while non-vote transactions generally represent activity initiated by users and applications. Blockworks' Solana analytics specifically tracks these categories separately.

At the Q3 level, the reported figure means Solana processed billions of transactions outside validator voting activity during the three-month period. Compared with the previous quarter, the 45% increase points to a substantial rise in recorded non-vote activity across the network.

Network Activity Continued to Accelerate

The quarterly record follows several shorter-term transaction milestones reported by Solana during the third quarter. In its August ecosystem roundup, the Solana Foundation said the network processed a record 216 million non-vote transactions in a single day. It also reported 1.32 billion non-vote transactions during the week of Aug. 17–23.

Those figures provide additional context for the 14.2 billion quarterly total. The Solana Foundation's August report also noted that non-vote transactions exclude validator voting traffic, giving users a clearer view of activity generated by applications and other network participants.

Solana's official network data remains available through the Solana Explorer, while Blockworks provides a dedicated Solana transaction-count dashboard that separates non-vote and vote transactions.

Solana Continued Network Upgrades in Q3

The transaction record came during a period of ongoing technical changes across the Solana network. Solana's official developer updates show that the network activated changes aimed at improving transaction capacity and reducing target slot times during August and September.

In August, Solana reported that its target slot time was reduced from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds and then to 300 milliseconds later in the month. The September ecosystem update also highlighted continued work on transaction infrastructure and network performance.

Solana later moved toward its next-generation Transaction V1 format. Its official changelog records the September 2026 mainnet activation and related development work as part of the network's continuing protocol upgrades.

What the 14.2 Billion Figure Means

For beginners, a blockchain transaction represents an action recorded on the network, such as interacting with an application, transferring assets or executing instructions through a smart contract. Solana's non-vote transaction metric excludes the validator voting transactions used to maintain consensus.

That distinction matters when interpreting network activity. A headline transaction figure that includes validator votes can look substantially different from a metric focused only on non-vote transactions. Blockworks therefore provides separate measurements for vote and non-vote activity in its Solana analytics.

The Q3 result does not by itself identify which individual applications or transaction types accounted for the increase. It does, however, establish that the volume of recorded non-vote activity reached a new quarterly high during the period.

Solana's Q3 Activity in Context

The 14.2 billion non-vote transaction figure adds to a series of network activity records reported during 2026. Solana's August ecosystem report documented the 216 million daily record and the 1.32 billion weekly record before the quarter had ended.

The network's official September updates also show continued engineering work focused on transaction formats, validator software and performance. Solana has separately highlighted improvements to slot times and transaction processing as part of its broader protocol development.

With Q3 now recording 14.2 billion non-vote transactions, Solana enters the next quarter with a new benchmark for quarterly network activity. The figure will provide a reference point for comparing future usage as the blockchain continues to develop its transaction infrastructure and ecosystem.
